Ripple Drives CLARITY to the Capitol, But the Senate Clock Is Running Out

Ripple has brought its push for U.S. cryptocurrency regulation to Washington with a visible campaign that includes a mobile ad truck near the Capitol displaying the message On the road to Clarity. The company is using this effort to keep the CLARITY Act, a bill focused on digital asset market structure, at the forefront of the legislative agenda. Ripple maintains that this legislation is necessary to protect consumers and encourage innovation while making the U.S. more competitive in the digital asset sector.

Although the bill is currently on the Senate calendar, it faces a very tight schedule. The Senate remains in recess until July 13, which leaves very little time for debate or voting before the August recess begins. This short timeframe has led to concerns that the vote might be delayed as leadership focuses on other legislative priorities. Additionally, there are still some unresolved issues regarding oversight and opposition from certain banking and law enforcement groups. However, the Department of Justice has indicated that the current proposal would not interfere with federal authority to investigate or prosecute crimes involving cryptocurrency.

For those following the market, the situation suggests that while the CLARITY Act is still a priority, the legislative calendar is now the primary obstacle. The policy details are moving forward, but the bill risks losing momentum if the Senate does not schedule floor time immediately after returning on July 13. If the vote is pushed toward August or later in the fall, passing the legislation will become significantly more difficult. The most important factor to watch now is whether the bill can secure a specific slot on the Senate schedule before time runs out.
