Capcom removed the “Resident Evil Re:Verse” from its July release date. This time, the delay will be much longer as the multiplayer add-on is no longer slated to launch until 2022.
It can be recalled that the "Resident Evil Re:Verse" was originally planned to launch with "Resident Evil Village" last May until Capcom announced it will go live at a later time. The multiplayer action was then scheduled for a July launch.
In a Twitter announcement on Thursday, Capcom said the delay was decided “so that the team can continue working to deliver a smooth gameplay experience.” So far, that was the only information provided by the developer, but it promised to announce “updated launch details” in the future.

A free redeem code for the standalone multiplayer was included in the physical copy of “Resident Evil Village.” Capcom said that will still be valid despite the delays and the developer advised fans not to lose it. The video game company also said fans can now redeem the code by adding it to their account so they can easily download the multiplayer spin-off once it launches next year.
The story introduced in “Resident Evil Village” is not expected to be expanded in the multiplayer add-on since “Resident Evil Re:Verse” is practically a standalone deathmatch mode. Fans can join teams with four to six players and engage in deathmatch battles that will run for five minutes.
Players will be able to use weapons scattered in the “Resident Evil Re:Verse” maps, but human characters will have specific skills and weapon loadout. The multiplayer action is also confirmed to feature familiar characters from the entire franchise.
One unique feature in “Resident Evil Re:Verse” is unlocked when a human character dies while in a deathmatch. They will be transformed into Bioweapons, which then affect how the match moves forward and can obtain upgrades by acquiring Virus Capsules. However, if players are killed in a Bioweapon form, they will be respawned as human characters again.
Aside from “Resident Evil Re:Verse,” Capcom is also developing a “Resident Evil Village” DLC. However, Capcom has yet to reveal what kinds of new content will be included and when it will be released.
