Like the first game, “Red Dead Redemption 2” will let players assume the character of the main protagonist, who is, this time, named Arthur Morgan. But Rockstar Games recently revealed that Arthur Morgan is not the only character they developed with an important background for the upcoming game.

In a series of tweets earlier this week, Rockstar Games released teaser photos that each feature a character with their notable lines. The teasers start with a wanted poster aiming for the arrest of the first game’s antagonist, Dutch van der Linde. This clearly indicates that the story of “Red Dead Redemption 2” is somehow tied to the first game’s plot.

The Sheriff wants the antagonist captured — dead or alive — for an array of crimes. It is also likely telling something about the “Red Dead Redemption 2” gameplay. One of the possible running storylines and mission in the upcoming game might have something to do with the arrest of the van der Linde gang leader.

John Marston is also going to return in “Red Dead Redemption 2” and is included in the lineup of preview photos released by Rockstar Games this week. Note, though, that the sequel’s main protagonist is Arthur Morgan and this is the role players will assume in the game. Marston is more likely part of side missions or just segments of the main campaign to smoothly tie the stories of the first and second games.

Fans looking forward to playing “Red Dead Redemption 2” can take a look at the supporting characters’ photos and read through their lines to figure out whether they are friendly or not. Other than van der Linde and Marston, Rockstar Games also confirm the other characters are Hosea Matthews, Molly O'Shea, Susan Grimshaw, Pearson, Micah Bell, Charles Smith, Bill Williamson, Leopold Strauss, Abigail Roberts, Jack Marston, Karen Jones, Javier Escuella, Tilly Jackson, Uncle, Lenny Summers, Sadie Adler, Reverend Swanson, and more.
With enough time left before the official release date of “Red Dead Redemption 2,” Rockstar Games might still have more surprises to uncover. The much-awaited sequel to the Wild West-themed video game arrives on Oct. 26 on PS4 and Xbox One.
