Fans of the “Rainbow Six Siege” finally know more details about the upcoming “Rainbow Six Extraction” as Ubisoft announced a specific release date and some of the Operators that will be available in the upcoming multiplayer tactical shooter. Since “Extraction” is not billed as a sequel to the original game, it is not surprising that it will feature familiar playable characters.
Who are the confirmed ‘Rainbow Six Extraction’ Operators
On the official website of “Rainbow Six Extraction,” there are 18 slots for the game’s Operators. However, Ubisoft has only revealed nine of them at this point. So far, the developer has confirmed that Ela, Sledge, Alibi, Lion, Vigil, Hibana, Finka, Pulse, and Doc are all available as playable characters.
It also appears that they will carry over their signature abilities and weapon loadout. For example, Ela’s ability description reads, “Throws sticky proximity mines, stunning enemies caught in the blast. Mines recharge over time.” In the original game, Ela’s playstyle as a defender mainly involves the use of sticky Grzmot mines that, when activated, can affect the enemies’ hearing cause dizziness. The “Rainbow Six Extraction” website also lists the submachine gun Scorpion Evo 3 A1, which was one of the first weapons used by the Operator in the original game.
Right now, “Rainbow Six Siege” has a total of 60 Operators since it launched in 2015. With only 18 Operators on the roster, it is still anybody’s guess which characters will fill the blank slots for “Rainbow Six Extraction.”
One thing is clear, though. There will be no new Operators to be introduced in the spin-off game. “With the huge number of operators now available on Siege, we had more than enough options at our disposal to make sure to cover all the angles,” “Rainbow Six Extraction” game director Patrik Méthé told The Loadout.
‘Rainbow Six Extraction’ release date
Missions in “Rainbow Six Extraction” will revolve around infiltrating an alien-infested map. A variety of objectives must be completed by a team of up to three Operators, such as collecting samples, gathering data from computers, and collecting intel.
“Rainbow Six Extraction” will be released on Sept. 16 on Windows PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Amazon Luna, and Google Stadia. The spin-off game is now available for pre-order starting at $59.99.
