Queen Elizabeth 2019: Why People are Scrutinizing Kensington Palace’s Twitter and Instagram Greetings

Queen Elizabeth recently celebrated her 93rd birthday and the Instagram account of Kensington Palace posted a greeting for the monarch. But as soon as people looked at the photo, one immediate impression springs to mind: Meghan Markle isn’t in it.

For a while, there have been rumors that the Duchess of Sussex may be at odds with the Royal Family, particularly against Prince William and Kate Middleton. The tension has apparently grown so thick that Queen Elizabeth herself has intervened to put everyone in line at some point last year.

And with this latest posting now buzzing on the web, this narrative will undoubtedly raise more speculations in the coming months. This is especially true since Kensington Palace’s Twitter account also posted a tribute to Queen Elizabeth and Meghan Markle isn’t on it either.

Of course, this shouldn’t be taken as a direct confirmation that there is indeed friction between the members of the royal household. For their part, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry posted their own greetings for Queen Elizabeth in their joint Instagram account.

“Happy Birthday Your Majesty, Ma’am, Granny. Wishing you the most wonderful day!” the royal couple captioned the post. At 93 years old, Queen Elizabeth is 11 years and fourth months older than any British royalty in history. She has reigned over 14 prime ministers, has signed 3,500 bills into law, and still has an active schedule although her travels have become less through the years.

Queen Elizabeth’s birthday was celebrated with a service at St. George’s Chapel. Again, Meghan Markle was not in attendance during the gathering, but that may be due to her expecting to deliver her child in the coming weeks. Hopefully, the Duchess’ pregnancy will go swimmingly and she delivers a healthy child. This new monarch will be raised in the grounds of Frogmore Cottage as Markle and Prince Harry relocated to the area to accommodate their growing family.
