Purse, one of the largest online marketplaces, and Indian bitcoin startup Unocoin are encouraging bitcoin payments in India with huge Amazon discounts between 5% and 22% using Purse’s ‘Name Your Discount Program’.

According to the Purse blog post, users of Unocoin or those who want to use it to buy bitcoin can avail the discounts on amazon.in for purchases of clothes, food, and electronic items. Purse takes advantage of unspent gift card liquidity to provide users with discounts at Amazon.

“We match you with individuals with illiquid gift card balances, and they order your items at your proposed discount. In return, they receive bitcoin at the end of their transaction and they are then able to spend their money easily or exchange their bitcoin for rupees on sites like Unocoin,” the company stated in its post.

In order to get started, Unocoin non-users have to sigh-up and buy their first bitcoins and start getting discounts for purchases on Amazon every day. Users, who are already using Purse for Amazon purchases, can refer a friend. By doing so, both of them will get a free .01 bitcoin after the referred friend has completed their first $50 transaction.
