The technical details about “Prison Break” season 6 might not be set in stone just yet, but showrunner Paul Scheuring already confirmed how the upcoming installment is going to begin. Fans will be taken back to the iconic first ever scene of the franchise — Michael’s (Wentworth Miller) in-jail tattoo session.
“Prison Break” season 6 has been in the pipeline for a very long time. It was first officially confirmed by Fox in January 2018. About three months later, Scheuring announced on Twitter that he had already finished the script for episode 1. “If you must know, I finished the 601 script,” Scheuring wrote.
A few weeks later, the series creator once again surprised fans by revealing an important “Prison Break” season 6 plot detail. “We're going back to the beginning. Literally the very first frames,” he told his Twitter followers. Thanks to streaming platforms like Netflix and Hulu that have all five seasons of the show, fans can quickly check that the first minute of “Pilot” features Michael completing his tattoo piece.
It was later revealed that the huge upper body tattoo was actually a map and a plan for them to break his brother, Lincoln (Dominic Purcell), out of prison. Micheal, a structural engineer, deliberately planned to be sent in prison and got the tattoo to perfect his plan. Michael’s tattoos are undeniably fundamental to the entire story from the beginning. So it is not surprising for “Prison Break” season 6 to revisit that.
Interestingly, the original Michael tattoo in the pilot episode was surgically removed in season 4. But in season 5, when Michael was the one who needed to be broken out of prison, he donned a new arm tattoo. By the end of season 5, fans were given the impression that Michael has chosen to lead a much more peaceful life with Sarah (Sarah Wayne Callies) and their son. So it builds up the excitement to know that “Prison Break” season 6 is revisiting the tattoo that started it all.
