"Prison Break" Season 6 has not arrived yet. It has been more than a year since the fifth season concluded so fans want to know if there will still be a new installment in the future.
Fortunately, in December of last year, lead star Dominic Purcell seemed to have confirmed the return of the series for a new season. The actor updated his Instagram with an announcement that “Prison Break” season 6 already “in the works,” Digital Spy reported.
Moreover, after Purcell’s social media update, Fox also officially affirmed that the sixth installment is on its way. According to TV Guide, Fox CEO and Chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman commented on the show’s return by saying, "We're just focused on getting the next iteration right. I don't anticipate there would be any significant announcements for several months."
Now, earlier this year, Fox president of entertainment Michael Thorn validated the news via the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
“We are developing a new iteration of Prison Break,” Variety quoted Thorn as saying. “It’s in very early stages of development, but we’re really excited about it.”
As of now, this is all that can be reported regarding “Prison Break” season 6. While Thorn did confirm that a new season is coming, he did not reveal any other details except the fact that he is sure both Wentworth Miller (Michael Scofield) and Dominic Purcell (Lincoln Burrows) are returning as leads.
The Plot
“Prison Break” season 5 concluded with Michael Scofield gaining full immunity for his past crimes while still working with scalawag CIA agent Poseidon (Mark Feuerstein). The grant made his life easier and he was able to spend more time with his wife Sara, played by Sarah Wayne Callies, and son Mike Jr., played by Christian Michael Cooper.
With his son already part of the series, the story may show more scenes about his son and Michael. Commenting on this development, Miller said: "I feel like there's more story there and now we're talking about multiple generations."
Air Date
“Prison Break” season 6 is still in the works so it is not expected to be back for a while. Although the script for episode 1 is already completed, filming has yet to be scheduled and this also depends on the availability of the cast members. The most we can expect is for the program to air sometime in 2019.
