‘Prison Break’ Season 6 Air Date, Spoilers: Alexander Mahone Comeback Is Possible; Dominic Purcell Teases Fans of Return

“Prison Break” season 6 is on its way back to the small screen after Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn confirmed its return after more than a year of hiatus. The announcement came in January and Thorn added that the drama is already in the development stage.

Dominic Purcell, one of the lead actors, also constantly updates his social media with cryptic messages that seem to suggest that filming has already begun. One of his latest posts was written in June and fans believed he was referring to “Prison Break” season 6’s return to filming. On his Instagram, he simply wrote "#6" and it was enough for fans to react enthusiastically.

Incidentally, immediately after Thorn confirmed that “Prison Break” season 6 is coming back, fans were overwhelmed and started discussing what the next story will be about. They are also excited for the new things that the next installment will offer for another suspenseful run.

Plot

In March, writer and show creator Paul T. Scheuring divulged that “Prison Break” season 6 will somehow be “a trip down the memory lane.” Via Twitter, he said that the upcoming installment will feature a story where they will be “going back to the beginning.”

Prior to this reveal, Scheuring shared that he was already done writing the sixth season’s first episode, "If you must know, I finished the 6.01 script," he wrote on social media to inform fans about a new update.

“Prison Break” season 6 will begin with Michael (Wentworth Miller) being freed from prison. However, his freedom may not really be a happy moment in his life because there could be negative sides too like being haunted by his traumatic experience.

"Michael's home, but I don't know if he's at peace. He's been living a nightmare, for years, and now he's back from the dead.” Miller told The Hollywood Reporter. “He's reunited with his loved ones, but I think he would be haunted for a long time. I think there'd be paranoia, insomnia, anxiety.”

Cast

Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller are still expected to lead the cast of “Prison Break” season 6. The rest of the team has yet to be confirmed but Sarah Wayne Callies (Sara Tancredi-Scofield), Amaury Nolasco (Sucre), Rockmond Dunbar (C-Note), Robert Knepper (T-Bag) and Inbar Lavi (Sheba) should be included in the lineup.

There is also a chance that the character Alexander Mahone (William Fichtner) is coming back. On Twitter, a fan asked Scheuring if Alex can return and he replied that there is a 50 to 150 percent chance that they could bring him back for “Prison Break” season 6.

Air Date

It is still too early for “Prison Break” season 6 to have a premiere date on TV since it is still in production. But if everything goes as planned, fans might see the show again in early or mid-2019.
