It has been over a year now since the making of “Prison Break” season 6 was confirmed. By this time, fans are expecting that the show should have already aired. The lack of updates from the producers started to worry others about the state of the series. Luckily, cast member Dominic Purcell recently issued a statement to reassure them that the show is still in the pipeline.
Purcell, who plays the main protagonist role Lincoln Burrows, took to Instagram to appease fans and guarantee them that “Prison Break” season 6 is definitely happening. He shared a clip from the show with co-star Wentworth Miller, who plays Michael Scofield and explained in the caption what is causing the delay.
The 49-year-old actor went on to explain that the merger of 21st Century Fox and Disney is ultimately affecting the production of “Prison Break” season 6. “Because of the #fox merger with #Disney it’s been a slow process for #prisonbreak 6 to get going. The forces that give the green light are totally invested. ‘Prison Break’ 6 will happen once the intricacies of the merger are done,” Purcell explained.
In the same social media update, Purcell assured fans that everyone involved in the production of “Prison Break” season 6 is ready to work. “Writers are ready. The bosses are ready. Wentworth and myself are ready,” he added.
Unfortunately, their enthusiasm to move forward with the “Prison Break” season 6 production is not enough to allow them to announce a premiere date or even a release date window. “I appreciate the excitement you all have for a start date. We don’t have it,” Purcell told fans.
Purcell is right to say the Fox-Disney merger has been a “slow process.” However, on a more positive note, it was just announced that the deal already has a closing date set on March 20. The major business transaction is practically a done deal reportedly amounting to $71.3 billion.
