Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child and it was confirmed by Kensington Palace on Oct. 14. The news of the former “Suits” actress’ pregnancy came just five months after marrying Prince Harry on May 19 in Windsor Castle.
Kensington Palace officially announced Meghan Markle’s pregnancy via Twitter. The statement reads: "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019."
The exact month was not mentioned but since spring in the U.K. runs from March to June, then these are the months when the Duchess of Sussex can give birth to her first child. Now, there were reports that claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expecting twins. Is it true?
According to Australia’s Woman’s Day, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to welcome two babies. In its published write-up, it seemed the magazine was delivering an announcement when it wrote on its cover, “Twins! Royals Celebrate Double Baby Joy.”
As for how WD got the idea that the newlywed royal couple is expecting twins, the magazine stated that since the duchess is “noticeably large so early into her pregnancy,” people began to whisper that she “could be expecting twins!”
The magazine added that when Meghan Markle stepped off the plane in Australia and prior to announcing her pregnancy, she was covering her baby bump with “not one but two purple folders” and this allegedly led to more speculations that she is indeed carrying two little ones.
But Gossip Cop debunked the claims because Woman’s Day did not even provide any source for its report about Meghan and Prince Harry’s supposed twin babies. The publication also pointed out that the story was only based on how fans and observers assumed that the duchess is pregnant with twins after seeing how large her baby bump is.
Lastly, Gossip Cop directly contacted Kensington Palace to clarify if the Woman’s Day report about the royal twins is true or false. As expected, the royal office denied the rumors by telling the fact-checking site to refer to their announcement when they wrote that the duchess of Sussex is “expecting a baby” instead of “expecting twins.”
