“Power” season 6 might not premiere in the next few months, but some early teasers are hinting that the plot will get even more intense. Following the death of a very important character, no one is really safe in the upcoming episodes, as warned by showrunner Courtney Kemp.
The fifth season of Starz’s hit crime drama series shocked fans when Kanan (Curtis Jackson, professionally known as 50 Cent) met his demise in an ambush. Kemp later told fans on Instagram that “no one is safe” as if warning that more major deaths are coming up in “Power” season 6.
Jackson also revealed in an interview with Deadline that Kanan’s death and the events the led to it were always on the table when they started plotting Kanan’s entire story. Jackson and Kemp have also reiterated that they do not intend to have as much as 10 seasons of the show that possibly hints the series finale is approaching. With “Power” season 6 being one of the apparent last installments, fans should not be surprised that the endgame of the arcs of other major characters is death.
Betrayal has also become a shining theme of the series. Kanan’s death was successfully executed with the help of Tariq who has been taking under his wing. Then there was Tommy (Joseph Sikora) who shot Angela (Lela Loren) in the season 5 finale. The surprising scene made it seem like Tommy was aiming at Ghost (Omari Hardwick) and this development will certainly have repercussions in their relationship in “Power” season 6.
Speaking of characters’ death, the ending season 5 implied that Angela died in the arms of Ghost, after being shot by Tommy. However, Kemp did not want fans to speculate any longer and she immediately confirmed that Angela is alive and will return in “Power” season 6.
Jackson also told Deadline that the series was designed to have seven seasons at most. When asked to confirm if this still the plan, Kemp refused to provide a specific answer and only said, “The story that I wanted to tell is almost over.” Meanwhile, Starz has yet to announce the “Power” season 6 release date, but it is highly expected to maintain a mid-year premiere.
