“Power” Season 5 Episode 9 is going to be an intense chapter for the crime drama series following the death of a major character in episode 8. For those who haven’t watched it yet, this article contains a lot of spoilers for the show.
The previous episode rocked the fans of “Power” as Kanan (Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson III) was killed after he was framed by Tasha (Naturi Naughton), IB Times reported. While some fans are questioning this development, the showrunners said that removing Kanan from the story is important for the series moving forward. “Power” Season 5 Episode 9 will intensify the distrust between Tommy (Joseph Sikora) and James (Omari Hardwick), which has been slowly boiling for quite some time.
Showrunner Courtney Kemp said that the purpose of Kanan’s death is to establish with the audience that no one is safe on the show. This is a great technique to employ in order to enhance the tension every time a character – major or otherwise – is put between a rock and a hard place. “Power” Season 5 Episode 9 will certainly feature this maneuver as things are spiraling out of control, with the feds now closing in on James and Tommy.
Indeed, a sneak peek at “Power” Season 5 Episode 9 has been released online and it shows how both these characters are literally in each other’s faces. And since Kemp said she’s eyeing season 7 as the crime drama’s finale, more characters will likely be killed off moving forward.
Even 50 Cent himself agreed to Kemp’s decision of killing Kanan. “We’ve created a template for the show that is non-Hollywood... Anyone can go, there’s no one in the show that can’t die,” the rapper turned actor said. It’s still unclear how things will unfold in “Power” Season 5 Episode 9 but fans can be assured that whatever the writers have up their sleeve, it’s going to be quite explosive.
“Power” Season 5 Episode 9 will air on Sunday, Sept. 9. Is Tasha’s betrayal going to be discovered? How will James and Tommy deal with the mess that saw Kanan dead? All of these questions and more are expected to be answered once the next episode drops.
