Polish economic growth likely to have decelerated in 2019

Polish economic growth data for the whole of 2019 is set to be released tomorrow. According to an Erste Group Research report, the flash estimate is likely to show a growth of 4.2 percent, a slowdown from 2018 of 5.1 percent.

Industry had performed below expectations at the turn of the year and is likely to have dragged GDP growth below 3.5 percent in the fourth quarter of 2019.

“Our nowcasting model suggests GDP growth at 3.6 percent y/y in the last quarter of 2019. Therefore, slippage of the FY19 figure to 4.1 percent cannot be ruled out. We expect the economy to further cool down this year, as we see FY20 growth at 3.4 percent”, added Erste Group Research.
