“Poldark” season 4 episode 5 recently came out and it came out swinging. The episode saw some scenes that blew viewers’ minds, and those whose job it is to cover such developments [Warning: Spoilers Ahead]. Fans of the show were treated to Rev. Osborne Whitworth taking a tumble, and poverty becomes a major plot device in the episode.
Unwrapping “Poldark” season 4 episode 5 might require the use of a tweezer because there was just so much going on in it. Starting with the good reverend’s death, which was likely treated as a pleasure by many viewers, it occurred right after he performed yet another unsavory act with Rowella. Having witnessed such activities, the husband, Arthur, decides to take matters into his own hands, Armchair Anglophile notes.
While in disguise, he accosted Whitworth with a candlestick, and after a brief struggle, the reverend fell off his horse and died. This might have been a scene that brought joy to many, but it could also prove Drake’s downfall. After all, suspicion of Whitworth’s murder will likely fall on him, which could put a damper on his wedding.
Moving on from there, “Poldark” season 4 episode 5 also focused on the efforts of Ross to alleviate the suffering of some of the poor. In his perseverance, he actually visited a poorhouse. Suffice it to say, the conditions were appalling, which shouldn’t be surprising in this period. Then again, he didn’t come away empty-handed as he did come across a man who was cleaning up the sick.
This gave him the idea of having rich people at least tip people for such services, leading to his national rollout proposal, Den of Geek reports. This was met with resistance, of course, but it at least earned him the attention of the Prime Minister. Clearly, “Poldark” season 4 episode 5 saw a mix of both heartbreak and satisfaction.
