The production of “Peaky Blinders” season 5 is still on a roll while teasing fans that a “big surprise” awaits. Though the cast and crew are still filming this month, the BBC crime drama series is confirmed to premiere in 2019.
An Instagram post earlier this week confirmed that the stars are back on set. The photo reveals a clapperboard — complete with a blood splatter — apparently used during a production day on Monday, specifically for the second episode of “Peaky Blinders” season 5.
There is barely any information or spoiler in the social media post. But it did confirm that Irish director Anthony Byrne will be working on “Peaky Blinders” season 5 episode 2. But a very short scene description in the clapperboard reads, “If you go down to the woods today…”
At this point, it is still difficult to decipher what the blurb means but it could be related to an upcoming plot twist in “Peaky Blinders” season 5. The Instagram post marking the show’s first filming day in 2019 was published with a cryptic caption teasing fans they can be “sure of a big surprise” coming up.
The release date window of 2019 for “Peaky Blinders” season 5 has been confirmed since late 2017. However, the network and producers have yet to announce a specific premiere schedule.

Since the cast and crew are still finishing production that started last October, it might take a couple of months more before fans get an official update. Meanwhile, reports suggest that it could happen within the second half of the year. Digital Spy further narrowed down that speculation to either a summer or fall.
Fans were granted with a very brief teaser of “Peaky Blinders” season 5 through a montage of the upcoming and returning BBC shows this year. It has also been confirmed that Tommy Shelby MP (Cillian Murphy) will drastically expand his reach possibly affecting an entire country upon being approached by a “charismatic politician with a bold vision for Britain.”
