‘Peaky Blinders’ season 4 recently unveiled new on-set photographs. One image hinted at the return of Tom Hardy’s Alfie Solomons while other images suggested that Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby may have managed to evade prison.
A new photograph of Tom Hardy on the filming set of season 4 of ‘Peaky Blinders’ revealed that the award-winning actor may be returning to reprise his role Alfie Solomons, the leader of a Jewish gang in Camden town. The character was first introduced in season 2 of the British television crime-drama based on the exploits of the notorious Peaky Blinders gang of Birmingham during the aftermath of World War I.
According to Express, Hardy was photographed on Dublin Street in Liverpool seemingly in costume inside a sedan. Writer Steven Knight said during a previous interview, “We couldn’t do it without Alfie.” Hardy’s character was portrayed as a highly unpredictable and violent gang leader, who eventually worked with Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby.
Meanwhile, Murphy teased that the highly anticipated fourth season will feature massive changes for the Peaky Blinders gang. He said, “I think [Tommy’s] family think that he’s betrayed them. It’ll be up to Tommy to demonstrate to them that he hasn’t betrayed them and that he has a bigger plan… The question is what that bigger plan is. Who is he gonna call? What’s gonna happen to the family? Can he ever get that level of trust or love back again?”
Season 3 of the gang drama concluded with a cliffhanger. Tommy informed his family that they were all about to be arrested with Michael (Finn Cole), Polly (Helen McCrory), Arthur (Paul Anderson), and John (Joe Cole) captured by the police and sent to jail in the final moments of the finale.
However, new on-set photographs suggested that Tommy, Arthur, and Finn (Harry Kirton) may have managed to evade capture. The characters were seen roaming free on the streets in the recently released images. According to Metro, Murphy’s character was photographed running through the streets with a pistol in his hand during filming in Toxteth in Liverpool, England.
Arthur’s wife Linda (Kate Phillips) was also seen driving a 1920s vehicle, suggesting the actress’ return to the show. Season 4 filming commenced in Birmingham while season 5 had also been commissioned.
‘Peaky Blinders’ season 4 is expected to return to BBC Two sometime in 2017. No official release date has been announced as of the present.
