PlayStation Now subscribers can expect a strong lineup of free games starting June that includes CD Projekt’s “The Witcher 3.” Sony also joins in the celebration of Sega’s “Sonic” franchise’s 30th anniversary by adding three titles to the PS Now service this month.
“The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition” headlines the list of PS Now free games this month, which translates to a $49.99 saving for PS4 and PS5 players subscribed to the service. As the title suggests, it is a collection of the base game, all of its 16 DLCs, and two expansions “Hearts of Stone” and “Blood and Wine.”
The PS Now June 2021 lineup is also an indication of Sony’s good partnership with Sega. This month, subscribers will have unlimited access to three “Sonic” games. The list includes “Team Sonic Racing” that lets fans play against their friends in Sonic-themed races. Also available for free is the 2D platformer “Sonic Mania,” which features a retro-style animation that plays on HD and up to 60 FPS framerate. There is also the 3D platform title “Sonic Forces.”
After Sega confirmed that the newly launched “Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown” will be available for free on PS Plus until July 5, Sony announced that it is also included in the June 2021 games for PS Now subscribers. The roguelike-inspired card game “Slay the Spire” is also available through the subscription service without additional cost starting this month.
Video game fans who also like cars can play the role of a car mechanic as the “Car Mechanic Simulator” is offered for free through PS Now this month. Its base game offers 48 vehicles more than a thousand parts to use for repair and tune-up works.
Third-party games, especially AAA titles, are usually available on PS Now for a limited time, though. And that is the case for “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition” and “Slay the Spire.” These games can only be accessed through PS Now until Sept. 6 and Dec. 6, respectively.
A PlayStation Network account is required to subscribe to PS Now. For PS4 and PS5 players, they can sign up through the consoles’ home screens. PC players can access the service through its free app. PS gamers will need a DualShock 4 controller with a USB cable and game downloads are exclusive to PS consoles. A PS Now subscription costs $9.99 per month.
