It may have only been a few months since the full version of "eFootball PES 2020" was released on various platforms. But it is never too early for video game fans to anticipate what's next for "PES 2021" in terms of its animations and gameplay features.
The early reports are promising. Konami is expected to debut its new engine in developing "PES 2021." Meanwhile, fans have also been helping developers by listing their wishes for the next title.
‘PES 2021’ gameplay: Improved visuals via a new engine are underway?
"eFootball PES 2020" was developed using the 6-year-old Fox Engine, which has also been utilized by Konami since "Pro Evolution Soccer 2014." It is not surprising why Konami is now facing questions on whether or not they plan on moving on to a new engine for "PES 2021."
The next game could be announced or released close to the launch of the next-generation consoles from Xbox and Sony PlayStation. It would then make sense for Konami to start considering a new engine for much better visuals on "PES 2021" that could be played on heftier hardware specs.
Kei Matsuda of Konami previously told WinPes that they do plan on using a new engine for the video game series "in the future." While he did not specify if it applies for "PES 2021," Matsuda added that the change “will not happen” until a new generation of console is sold in the market. Matsuda further explained that Konami would continue using Fox Engine on current generation consoles.
The interview led to the interpretation that Konami will use Fox Engine on “PES 2021” and other future titles that will be launched on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 systems. It is also anticipated, per Matsuda’s interview, that the next “PES” titles to be released on PlayStation 5 and the product Xbox Project Scarlett could be developed on an all-new engine.
‘PES 2021’ release date: When to expect new game
It is understandably too early for Konami to officially discuss “PES 2021.” But like other sports simulation video game series, “PES” main title release dates have been consistent over the years. It is then not far-fetched to expect the next title to be fully launched within the third quarter of 2021 or sometime in fall at the latest.
