The first “Outlast” game was hailed as one of the most terrifying video games in recent memory, which is why fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the sequel. Without much fanfare, it would seem that a demo for “Outlast 2” is actually out, with Red Barrels Studio releasing it on the European PlayStation Store in a sneaky manner.
As Engadget notes, Halloween is almost here, which means that it’s a great time to start stocking up on horror video games to scare the ever living daylights out of gamers. With “Outlast” having the psychological thriller down to a tee, anything made by its developers would be worth a try. For those who own PS4 consoles living in Europe or Australia, the demo for the sequel is available to download for free.
With regards to the announcement that the demo even existed, the developers had actually hinted about it with a diary entry that they posted on the company’s Facebook page last September. They didn’t say anything explicit when the demo finally came out, however, nor did they even do any kind of PR scheme.
Fans in America or in other parts of the world don’t have to worry about getting to try the demo as well since it will likely become available in more places soon, Gamerant reports. Players will then be able to step into the shoes of Blake and Lynn Langermann as they delve into the haunting world of “Outlast 2.”
In the game, the characters are a husband and wife journalist team who are investigating a murder in the deserts of Arizona. Their work started when they were looking into the murder of an unidentified pregnant woman.
Based on the gameplay footage that was released over six months ago, it’s pretty clear that Red Barrels Studio have another potential hit on their hands. To ensure that this would be the case, the developers even had to delay the release of the game until early 2017.
