With the fourth season of “Outlander” set to premiere this Sunday, Nov. 4, viewers will once again see Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) deal with the ups and downs of life in the 18th century. A lot of things will happen as the couple gets used to life in the American colonies, and fans who haven’t heard the news yet will be delighted to know that Starz has already renewed the series for two additional seasons. In fact, production has already started for “Outlander” Season 5.
"We're already back in the writers' room. The writers are actually working not as we speak—hopefully, they're on the weekend—but we're already working on Season 5. So, well under way," executive producer Maril Davis said at the “Outlander” Season 4 premiere at New York Comic-Con last month, via Den of Geek.
Starz president and CEO Chris Albrecht also confirmed that Claire and Jamie are returning in “Outlander” Season 5 in a statement in May. "Fans can rest assured their beloved Claire and Jamie will be back facing new challenges, adversaries and adventures in seasons five and six as we delve into American history and continue the story of the Frasers as they settle in the New World.”
Well, that’s to be expected because those two are very much alive in “The Fiery Cross,” the book in the Outlander series of novels by Diana Gabaldon that “Outlander” Season 5 is going to be based on. Reports in the past few months have also confirmed that Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, Cesar Domboy, John Bell, and Lauren Lyle are returning to play Brianna Randall, Roger Wakefield, Fergus Fraser, Ian Fraser Murray, and Marsali MacKimmie Fraser, respectively.
Meanwhile, the producers of the show are giving interested individuals the opportunity to work on the set of “Outlander” Season 5. Production at Wardpark Studios starts in the new year.
