“Orange Is the New Black” season 7 might be the end as the show already reached its final year. This information was revealed by “OITNB” lead star Laura Prepon.
In her interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Laura Prepon (Alex Vause) relayed the message that the upcoming seventh season is probably the last time fans will see them on the small screen.
“The endgame is there. As of now, season seven is our last season. So, the endgame is clear,” she told THR.
She added that the finale “bums her out because she loves working with Taylor Schilling (Piper Chapman)." Prepon explained that since she and Taylor have spent six years -- and going on seven now -- of working together, they are very comfortable and remarked that Taylor is a “wonderful scene partner.”
In “Orange Is the New Black” Alex and Piper play a gay couple who married while in prison. Although they had a rough start in terms of relationship, they rekindled their romance after being locked up together and they finally wed in season 6.
Spoiler
“Orange Is the New Black” season 7 has been confirmed to be the last and its storyline will include the end of Piper’s sentence. She will be released from prison and will probably be shown starting her new life outside the bars.
In another The Hollywood Reporter article, it is revealed that Taylor Schilling has been preparing to say goodbye to the show but it seems she does not need to since “Orange Is the New Black” season 7 would be the last after all. “Just me as an actor getting ready to say goodbye to a role that I’ve lived with for six years,” she said. “It’s a very poignant moment in time because we’re not done. I’m about to go back and shoot season seven. So it’s a very kind of surreal time.”
Then again, despite the news of her leaving the show sometime in season 7, executives of “Orange Is the New Black” stated that Taylor’s character Piper will still be around. They will show her presence outside the prison, perhaps she may even get married and have her family.
Air Date
The “Orange Is the New Black” season 7 air date is not yet confirmed but if it will follow the show’s regular premiere date, then it will be out sometime in July 2019.
