SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 11, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Operation Underground Railroad (O.U.R.), a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue of trafficked children from sex slavery worldwide, today announced John Moreland as president, effective immediately. In this role, Moreland will report directly to O.U.R. founder and CEO, Tim Ballard, and will be responsible for worldwide strategy. Moreland will lead the global initiative to expand partnerships with corporations, law enforcement and non-profits to further the organization's mission.
"We are thrilled to have John as our new president," said Tim Ballard, founder and CEO of O.U.R. "Over the last two decades, John has proven to be a successful and trusted leader and brings to this position a strong reputation for developing people and inspiring teams. John strongly represents exactly what O.U.R. stands for, and I could not be more pleased with him in this new role at this important time for us."
Moreland is a seasoned executive with more than 20 years experience. Previous to joining O.U.R., Moreland served as CEO of PICS, a supplier compliance software company, which he founded in 2003. Under Moreland's leadership, PICS acquired thousands of the largest firms in the world as customers (including BP, American Airlines, John Deere, ExxonMobil and Goodyear) and created the fastest growing supplier prequalification company in the world. Previous to PICS, Moreland held many other positions related to the safety of individuals and families, including seven years in law enforcement as a police officer for the city of Irvine, CA.
"I am excited and honored to take on this role as president of O.U.R.," said Moreland. "Throughout my career, I have been drawn to organizations that promote safety and help law enforcement, and O.U.R. is definitely in that category. I look forward to working with Tim and the rest of the team to help rescue more children in more countries from the grips of sex slavery and assist law enforcement worldwide in the prosecution of trafficking offenders."
