OnePlux X, the latest handset from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus, is now available for purchase in the United States and Canada, however, it is on an invitation-only basis.
Priced at $249, the handset went on sale in selected countries, starting in August, IBTimes reported. It has 5-inch display with 1080p full HD resolution (441 PPI). OnePlus X is equipped with Qualcomm snapdragon 801 processor with 2.3 GHz Quadcore CPUs, 3GB RAM and internal storage of 16 GB, expandable to 128 GB.
The device supports 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera. It supports accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, ambient light and HALL sensors. It comes with rechargeable 2,525 mAh LiPo battery and 2.4Ghz b/g/n Wi-Fi.
Interestingly, the handset has two slots that fit either 2 Nano SIM cards (DSDS) or 1 Nano SIM and 1 MicroSD card.
Reviewing OnePlus X, Ars Technica says that pros include excellent built body, a microSD slot and the affordable $249 price tag, while cons include fragile glass; missing NFC and 5GHz and 802.11ac Wi-Fi; no backlight for navigation buttons. The report also said that the “anorexic” 6.9mm thickness could have been expanded to make space for more battery. Lastly, Ars Technica said, “The poor LTE support will be a deal breaker for many people in the US.”
