“One Punch Man” season 2 episode 1 will be arriving in 2019. While the specific release date is still unknown, the manga series's teasers hint that it might be focused on introducing next season’s main villain, Garou.
The official trailer confirmed that the next anime installment will adopt the storylines of the manga, thus having Garou as Saitama's new archnemesis. Garou was only shown in a silhouette in the season 1 finale, which hints that his formal introduction to the anime series could happen in “One Punch Man” season 2 episode 1.
Garou’s introduction in the manga was quite dramatic and not confined in a single chapter. But since the anime tells the stories in a more compressed manner, there is a chance that “One Punch Man” season 2 episode 1 will cover a few manga chapters about Garou before opening the Hero Hunter arc.
The possibility of “One Punch Man” season 2 episode 1 focusing on Garou is also implied in the official trailer. In the video teaser, Garou immediately introduces himself as Saitama’s new rival and implies that Garou’s hero hunting activities will commence soon.
The manga's chapter 40 features one of the first glimpses of Garou’s real power. In this chapter, the criminals and villains are gathered in the Hero Association HQ, where they will be offered a temporary ceasefire so they can band together against an imminent threat from the monsters. Later, Garou defeats all the gathered villains and declares his hunt of heroes. This sequence will obviously make an exciting “One Punch Man” season 2 episode 1.
Meanwhile, it is also possible that “One Punch Man” season 2 episode 1 will elaborate on Shibabawa’s prediction. The fortune teller previously predicted the “greatest catastrophe” putting Earth in grave danger and linked to the increased presence of Monsters. Obviously, Garou will enjoy seeing this happen considering his hatred of the heroes and fondness of the monsters.
There were previous rumors that “One Punch Man” season 2 episode 1 would be released last month. But it was later proven to be inaccurate and all season 2 episodes will be released next year, starting sometime in April 2019.
