BURLINGTON, Mass. and SÃO PAULO, Brazil, Sept. 06, 2017 -- Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:NUAN) today announced that its Nuance Loop platform, part of Nuance’s suite of solutions for mobile operators, powers the next evolution of Vivo Recado Premium’s voicemail service. Nuance Loop’s visual voicemail feature converts voicemail messages into text messages, which can be read quickly and easily in the service application. Vivo is the leading telecommunications operator in Brazil, with around 74 million mobile subscribers that are able to use Vivo Recado Premium.
More than six billion calls remain unanswered each month in Brazil, resulting in a loss of connection for subscribers and revenue opportunity for carriers. Nuance’s visual voicemail quickly and accurately transcribes voicemail messages into text messages with speech recognition technology powered by Nuance’s artificial intelligence and Deep Learning innovation. As a result, Vivo Recado Premium subscribers experience a more convenient way to stay connected, with the ability to listen, forward and reply to incoming messages via SMS text or a phone call, all within the app.
Visual voicemail functionality is offered as part of the recently launched Nuance Loop, an artificial intelligence-driven data analytics platform designed for pre-paid mobile operators that delivers new and incremental revenue streams through personalized offers and services for subscribers across a variety of touch points.
"Vivo offers its subscribers innovative services that meet the demands of everyday life, such as Vivo Recado Premium, which gives our customers the freedom to access their messages when convenient and in the simplest and quickest way possible," said Fernando Luciano, Director of Digital Services and Innovation at Vivo.
"Missed calls are an inconvenience for everyone - subscribers need to stay connected to friends, colleagues and family no matter where they are, and incomplete calls are a revenue opportunity for carriers. In today's mobile society, people need a better way to stay connected and productive," said Dan Faulkner, senior vice president and general manager of communications service providers at Nuance Mobile. "Visual voicemail is a way for carriers like Vivo to offer the best of both worlds - a convenient, effortless experience for subscribers, and greater profitability for the organization itself."
