Nicole Kidman has developed a reputation for shielding her adopted children with ex-husband Tom Cruise from the public spotlight. This sensitivity to the needs of her kids extends even to their grown-up version, with Isabella Cruise and Connor Cruise being both adults. However, there have recently been reports about the actress supposedly attempting to rescue them from Scientology. This follows a recent interview where she talks about the controversial religion.
This whole mess started when Nicole Kidman had a candid discussion with Who, where she mentions Scientology in a casual manner. She didn’t say anything negative about the notorious religious group, but she didn’t say anything flattering, either. In fact, the real meaning behind her statements could only be inferred based on her choice of words.
"They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them," the actress said. "And I am an example of that tolerance and that’s what I believe – that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I’m open here."
Superficially speaking, Nicole Kidman does not directly say anything bad about Scientology. But reading into her words more might lead some to conclude that the actress is not thrilled about her children being members. Making things worse is the report that she is supposedly moving to London to save her daughter from the church.
As Gossip Cop reports, this story courtesy of the National Enquirer is not true. The gossip-debunking publication got in touch with the representatives of Nicole Kidman and confirmed that there is no truth to the report. Officially, the actress’ stance is that she supports her children’s decision to be Scientologists and she has no plans to interfere with their decision.
