If anyone still has any doubt on whether Ni No Kuni 2: Revenant Kingdom is worth buying or not, the reviews have made it official; this beautiful JRPG from Level-5 joins the annals of legendary titles in the same category. While technically a sequel, Revenant Kingdom has very little to do with the first Ni No Kuni game and does an incredible job of setting itself apart.

The story revolves around a young king named Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum who was deposed and has decided to form his own kingdom, as a result, GameSpot notes. The game features several mechanics from different genres, including civilization creation and RTS battles, alongside the real-time battles that come at a faster pace.

These aspects, in addition to the compelling characters, engaging story, and the beautiful art style inspired by Studio Ghibli films have made Revenant Kingdom high up on reviewers’ lists of the best RPGs of all time. Polygon gave it a score of 9 out of 10, for example, noting that it’s a remarkably well-built narrative.

“There's no part of the game that feels more or less important, and there were no moments in the game where I thought I was slogging through exposition or kingdom management to pad hours in my playthrough. There's not a wasted breath or a plot point that doesn't manage to pay off in a significant way,” Polygon writes.

Eurogamer also gave the game its “Recommended” mark despite having some gripes about some of the sacrifices that Revenant Kingdom had to make.

“With time, Ni no Kuni 2's lavish array of systems grind away any ennui you might feel about the story. There are the usual JRPG sins of a world bloated with loot and resources and missions that are essentially there to sponge up the hours, but most of it feeds satisfyingly into kingdom-building and the party combat,” Eurogamer writes.
