Developer Sledgehammer Games will be releasing an update for “Call of Duty: WWII” this week that will add Riot Shields and the newest Division called Cavalry.
The TheseKnivesOnly YouTube channel was the first to report about these upcoming contents on Sunday through a video gameplay preview. And it appears that the Riot Shields are items tied to the arrival of the Cavalry Division.
The same video shows a list of descriptions for Cavalry, including the ability to carry a “Shield” as protection against enemy attacks. Dot Esports also notes that this is not the first time Riot Shields are being added to a “Call of Duty” game as they were also some of the featured gears in the “Modern Warfare 2.”
While shields are typically good defensive gears, a Riot Shield can also be used in attacking enemies through the Cavalry’s Shield Charge move. This means that players can sprint while holding a Riot Shield and ram into their opponents to gain enough force to crush them.
Players must remember that a shield cannot be stationed in one place. It will only work while players hold on to it and run around with it. However, the gameplay preview confirmed that players can place a shield on their backs as they hold weapons and fire at enemies. Ultimately, it does the job of avoiding instant kills.
The Cavalry Division also gets “improved objective capabilities” and will acquire extra points for every completed objective. TheseKnivesOnly revealed that the Cavalry Division allows players to carry a secondary weapon of their choice but they cannot put any attachments to it.
Since Cavalry is obviously a support-focused division, players will get extra credit for assisting other team members. In fact, two successful assists using any weapon will be counted as one kill.
Luckily, fans and players of “Call of Duty: WWII” can rely on these details as TheseKnivesOnly confirmed in the video that they were invited by no less than Sledgehammer Games and Activision for an early preview of the gameplay.
The update containing the Cavalry Division is slated to go live on Tuesday, June 26.
