Well, no one can say that Blizzard doesn’t like building its own world and making it overlap with this one. In a recent blog post, the company created a fictional interview with who appears to be a new character for the MMO FPS game Overwatch, which seems to break many of the tropes that were tied with the game so far. For one thing, she’s incredibly young. For another, she seems to be an ode to the African people.
The hero being hinted at is named Efi Oladele, who the mock article describes as a child genius. An expert in robotics, Efi was supposedly given considerable recognition in the field of artificial intelligence and given the genius grant by the so-called Adawe Foundation at age eleven. This tells fans of Overwatch that the hero will likely have similar skills to heroes who also specialize in technology.
In any case, this teaser post also serves to end the rumors that the next Hero is going to be Doomfist, Game Rant reports. There was considerable enthusiasm behind the idea, fueled by the prospect of actor Terry Crews voicing the character.
Should the teaser prove true, Efi would be the 24th hero added to the roster in Overwatch, with much more in the works. On that note, players shouldn’t expect the wonder kid to make an appearance anytime soon. When Sombra received similar treatment, it took a long time for her to become available.
According to IGN, it’s even possible that Efi herself won’t be participating in the games directly, but rather, through something that she created. If so, Overwatch players could get the chance to helm another robotic weapon such as Bastion.
Whatever the case, Blizzard is once again building the hype surrounding its heroes, prompting fans to salivate at the chance to use another character. This is likely to give the juggernaut boost to grow its user base.
