One of the most endearing things about Fortnite and specifically its Hunger Games-esque mode, Battle Royale is how much care the developers at Epic Games puts into making it mysterious and appealing. Most recently, they added yet another mystery item to the game in the form of a locked hatch. It’s quite reminiscent to the episode arc in the hugely popular TV show “Lost” where the characters were trying to get inside a bunker.
As PCGamesN points out, there were a lot of additions that came with Fortnite Season Four, including that crater over at Dusty Divot courtesy of the weeks-long comet teaser episode and the hidden bases that are attributed to superheroes, which players can find in certain buildings in the game. The flavor of interest for the day, however, is a new hatch that recently made an appearance in the Wailing Woods.
The hatch is indestructible and the cover looks like a garage door that is meant to open up with the right commands to show players the goodies that are inside. There is absolutely no chance that Epic simply left this particular feature in the landscape to add to the décor. It is intended to serve a purpose and that purpose likely has something to do with a future content.
For anyone who has drawn a parallel between this feature and a central plot point in the show “Lost,” the homage would appear to be intentional, Gamespot notes. The developers behind the game have shown a tendency to throw in plenty of pop culture references in the game and this time is no different.
As to what new gimmick it will be used for, players will simply have to wait for the answer. Epic certainly doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to provide any details, likely enjoying all the attention that they are currently getting.
