NEW YORK, July 12, 2017 -- At the end of the settlement date of June 30, 2017, short interest in 2,327 Nasdaq Global MarketSM securities totaled 7,605,955,093 shares compared with 7,678,787,261 shares in 2,328 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of June 15, 2017. The end-of-June short interest represents 3.91 days average daily Nasdaq Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.94 days for the prior reporting period.
Short interest in 830 securities on The Nasdaq Capital MarketSM totaled 896,823,667 shares at the end of the settlement date of June 30, 2017 compared with 852,748,704 shares in 818 securities for the previous reporting period. This represents 1.48 days average daily volume, compared with the previous reporting period’s figure of 2.95.
In summary, short interest in all 3,157 Nasdaq® securities totaled 8,502,778,760 shares at the June 30, 2017 settlement date, compared with 3,146 issues and 8,531,535,965 shares at the end of the previous reporting period. This is 3.33 days average daily volume, compared with an average of 4.62 days for the previous reporting period.
