“Narcos: Mexico” season 2 is underway and this will offer a closer look into the drug trade that beset Mexico. It will still center on Guadalajara cartels but this time, the drug war has intensified following the death of a DEA agent.
Yes, the drug war will continue and it will be more explosive than before because the story will pick up after Kiki Camarena has been murdered for his role in the largest drug bust in Mexico in the 1980s. As the story will get deeper in “Narcos: Mexico” season 2, fans will surely see more action, conflicts, betrayals and drama as more people die in the quest to quash the illegal trade.
It is interesting to know that James Kuykendall, a real DEA agent who was Kiki’s real-life supervisor during the Guadalajara cartel era, is taking part in “Narcos: Mexico” season 2 in order to help the series provide true facts on what really took place during the drug war. This means that the plot would be very close to the truth so this is really worth watching.
In the series, James Kuykendall was played by Matt Letscher and the actor took time to visit the former to get a feel of how he will give life to his character in “Narcos: Mexico” season 2. Matt also interviewed James to learn more about what transpired in Mexico more than 30 years ago.
James Kuykendall was in charge of the drug case in Mexico in 1985 and he was there when the real Kiki Camarena was abducted, tortured and killed. At that time, he and Kiki’s wife, Mika (Alyssa Diaz) worked together and tried to save him but they devastatingly failed.
Now, Matt Letscher shared bits of what he and James had discussed and apparently, his statements also gave hints as to what can be expected from “Narcos: Mexico” season 2. Firstly, he described the DEA agent as very dedicated to Kiki, then he said that James agreed to be a consultant in the drama so that Kiki’s story will stay alive and let people know about how the murdered agent sacrificed his life for his country.
“He has troves of material from that time,” People quoted Letscher as saying. “I feel like primarily he wants to make sure that Kiki’s legacy is honored and that his story is told right and kept alive. I feel like we more than accomplished that with what we’ve done so far on Narcos.”
Lastly, Matt Letscher revealed that “Narcos: Mexico” season 2 will somehow be about revenge after the DEA lost one of their own. They vowed to fight and do what they can to stop the drug trade that is gripping the country and make sure that the criminals are punished.
