“Narcos: Mexico” season 2 has been confirmed following its huge success in November 2018. Initially, it was supposed to be the fourth season of “Narcos” but since the plot and location had changed, it was reset to an all-new standalone crime-thriller drama.
Now, the series is heading to “Narcos: Mexico” season 2 and some details are already here. Firstly, it was confirmed that Diego Luna will still reprise his role as Miguel Felix Gallardo, the drug boss who is behind the Guadalajara Cartel. Since Michael Peña (Kiki Camarena) is not coming back as his character has been killed off in the season 1’s finale, Scoot McNairy will take over as the new DEA agent who will go after the illegal drug leaders and their cohorts.
“Narcos: Mexico” season 2 will still focus on the notorious Mexcian drug cartel where it all began. It will not mention the Pablo Escobar’s Colombia drug trade that was featured in the original “Narcos” series since it came later when the business in Mexico flourished and spread across the world.
Plot
“Narcos: Mexico” season 2 will pick up from the death of Kiki Camarena who discovered and led the destruction of the biggest marijuana plantation in Mexico in the 1980s. The aftermath of his torture and murder will be avenged by the DEA by intensifying and expanding their fight against the criminals.
As reported on EconoTimes, Scoot McNairy is the new DEA agent who will resume the work that Kiki had started. In “Narcos: Mexico” season 2, he will make sure to catch the guys who brutally murdered their comrade. McNairy was also revealed to be the narrator in the finale where he said the DEA will continue the battle and will not allow their illegal activities anymore.
Release Date
“Narcos: Mexico” season 2 has started filming in December 2018 so fans may see it again on Netflix by the end of this year. When the shoot wraps up, watch out for the announcement as it may be earlier than expected.
