As the release date of “NBA 2K20” comes closer, more gameplay details are being revealed. To keep up the hype around the upcoming video game, developers released the initial top 20 rankings and some capable players from the San Antonio Spurs, and Washington Wizards are, interestingly, not included.

‘NBA 2K20’ rankings: Los Angeles franchises’ superstars dominate

No one reached an overall rating of 99, but the Lakers' LeBron James and newly-signed Clipper Kawhi Leonard are both just two points short. The players share the first place in the initial rankings that further sparks an imminent LA rivalry in NBA season 2019-20. However, 2K Games said in a tweet that James has a “slight” advantage.

James is undoubtedly one of the most reliable players in the league, but his popularity has also invited some basketball fans’ opinions that he is overrated. So it was not surprising that there were some contentions with initial “NBA 2K20” overall rankings.

Another interesting aspect in the “NBA 2K20” top 20 rankings was the missing All-Star players from Spurs and Wizards. It appears that DeMar DeRozan, LaMarcus Aldridge, John Wall, and Bradley Beal are part of a yet to be revealed list.

‘NBA 2K20’ duo rankings favor Lakers over Clippers

Basketball fans will agree that it has been a very interesting offseason, especially because of the major trade deals that led to some fierce duos for 2019-20. Lakers has James and “NBA 2K20” main game cover athlete Anthony Davis while Leonard was joined by Paul George in the Clippers.

The Lakers tandem is named no. 1 with a combined rating of 95.5 in the “NBA 2K20” duo rankings. Leonard and George got 95. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving of Brooklyn Nets scored 93.5 together followed by Houston Rockets’ reuniting teammates James Harden and Russell Westbrook with 93.

‘NBA 2K20’ gameplay first-look

Apart from the 20-second teaser trailer released by 2K when “NBA 2K20” was announced, no gameplay trailer has been officially unveiled yet. But James shared a series of Instagram Story videos showing his player, along with Davis, Kyle Kuzma, Rajon Rondo, and Javale McGee in action on the basketball video game simulation. “NBA 2K20” will be released on Sept. 6.
