2K Games has yet to make proper announcements about “NBA 2K20” but fans will agree that it is not that hard to predict when the game would be coming out. Since the franchise was launched in 1999, it had a fairly consistent release date window through the years.
The very first “NBA 2K” game came out in November 1999. In the following years, the game series was updated with a new title released sometime in the fall season. The subsequent games were mostly launched either in September or November.
However, it is also important to note that the latest four games — “NBA 2K16,” “NBA 2K17,” “NBA 2K18,” and “NBA 2K19” — were all released in September. This increases the chance that “NBA 2K20” would go live in September this year, too.
Gaming fans should note, however, that this remains speculation even though it is based on previous facts. This means there is a chance for a slight change to happen, especially considering that 2K Games is now expected to release a much-awaited AAA game in September — “Borderlands 3.”
As for “Borderlands 3,” there were rumors that it could be released in early October. However, a now-deleted tweet from the franchise’s official Twitter page apparently leaked a Sept. 13 launch date for the game. This somehow makes a September release date for “NBA 2K20” questionable.
“NBA 2K20” and “Borderlands 3” are both published by 2K Games but are developed by different studios. While these games are clearly not under the same gaming genre, 2K Games possibly does not want these titles to clash in the market by giving it release dates that are too close to one another. If ever September is an unlikely schedule for “NBA 2K20,” it could still have a fall season release date in either October or November.
