It has been a while since the production of “Money Heist” season 5 was confirmed, but a release date has yet to be announced. On the bright side, fans might only have to wait until the second of 2021 to binge on the last episodes of the worldwide popular series.
‘Money Heist’ season 5 possible release date window
Netflix ordered a final installment of “La Casa de Papel,” internationally known as “Money Heist,” in late July. Its filming was confirmed to have started in early August. Considering that “Money Heist” season 5 will have 10 episodes, the production might not end until early 2021.
Note that it is based on the time it took to film season 4 as there is no known timeline of when the “Money Heist” season 5 production will wrap up. It is also important to consider that the show’s filming locations are situated in different European countries where a new wave of lockdowns cannot be ruled out yet due to a new strain of COVID-19 spreading in the region.
On the other hand, if the filming of “Money Heist” season 5 will not be postponed due to the ongoing pandemic, it is still possible to see the new episodes in the second half of 2021. Some reports speculate a release date could be set in October next year.
‘Money Heist’ season 5 plot: What to expect
With “Money Heist” season 5 being the final installment of the series, fans expect the gang to go all-out with their plans in the upcoming episodes. However, before they can move forward, they might have to make a detour to save the Professor (Álvaro Morte), who was last seen being held at gunpoint by Sierra (Najwa Nimri).
Because this is the group’s last hurrah, one of the storylines to expect in “Money Heist” season 5 is the main characters eventually parting ways. Showrunner Álex Pina told Deadline that, aside from the imminent farewell, pushing the Professor to the edge as well as “irreversible” experiences for the characters are the other main plot points to expect in the show’s fifth and final part. “The war reaches its most extreme and savage levels, but it is also the most epic and exciting season,” Pina teased.
