The synopsis for “Five Minutes” posted on TV Guide reads, “A look at 300 seconds in the lives of the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan includes Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) hurrying to catch a flight for which they prematurely took sleeping pills;
Haley (Sarah Hyland) and Rainer (Nathan Fillion) reevaluating their relationship at dinner before his birthday cake arrives; Phil (Ty Burrell) and Claire (Julie Bowen) meeting Alex's (Ariel Winter) new boyfriend; and Manny (Rico Rodriguez) trying to find a parking spot at the movies while Jay (Ed O’Neill) and Gloria (Sofia Vergara) argue.”
The upcoming episode will put focus on the individual lives of the members of the blended Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker family in five short minutes. Mitch and Cam will race against time to catch their flight while fighting the effects of sleeping pills that they prematurely took.
The promotional photographs posted on Spoilers Guide show Mitch and Cam as they look bewildered in an airport. In one image, the two are seen presumably yelling at another passenger as they stand in line.
During Rainer’s birthday dinner, he and Haley will be forced to come to terms with their entire relationship before his cake arrives. Phil and Claire will also be facing a challenge of their own when they pay a surprise visit to their daughter Alex to which they receive a five-minute introduction to Alex’s new boyfriend.
Meanwhile, Manny will struggle on finding the perfect parking space for him and his parents since they only have five minutes to catch a movie. Things will get complicated for the young Delgado since he has to do this with Jay and Gloria arguing in the backseat.
‘Modern Family’ season 8’s episode 18, titled “Five Minutes,” is scheduled to air on ABC on March 29, 2017. It was directed by Gail Mancuso and written by Elaine Ko. It will be followed by episode 19, titled "Frank's Wedding," directed by Beth McCarthy-Miller and scheduled to be released on April 5.
