Melania Trump is reportedly wearing one of the most expensive celebrity engagement rings ever. The pricey accessory was given to the FLOTUS by Donald Trump before they tied the knot in 2005.
Tobias Kormind, the managing director at 77Diamonds.com told Express that at the time of the first couple’s engagement, the engagement ring was already priced at $3 million.
But in order to keep a low-profile, Trump claimed that he got a 50 percent discount from retailer Graff. However, the company denied the POTUS’s claim by saying that they don’t sell items for publicity value.
According to OneBuy.com, even though the FLOTUS owns one of the most expensive engagement rings today, her accessory is not the most expensive one of all. At the number 10 rank is Jackie Kennedy Onassis, who received a beautiful engagement ring from her second husband. Onassis’ engagement ring was reportedly worth over $2 million.
Jennifer Lopez’s engagement ring from her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, reportedly cost $3.9 million. The expensive ring placed the “World of Dance” judge at the eighth spot right after the FLOTUS.
Grace Kelly, Paris Hilton, and Beyoncé ranked in the seventh, sixth, and fifth spots with their $4 million, $4.1 million, and $4.4 million engagement rings. Tennis star Anna Kournikova ranked fourth with her $4.7 million engagement ring from Enrique Iglesias.
Ranking third is Kim Kardashian with her $7 million engagement ring from her husband, Kanye West. On the second spot is Elizabeth Taylor with her $7.8 million engagement ring.
According to Express, Mariah Carey has the most expensive celebrity engagement ring to date with an $8.8 million ring from Nick Cannon.
Meanwhile, the POTUS had his wife’s engagement ring upgraded when they celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary. At that time, Trump also teamed up with Graff for the upgrade.
“This is the ring Melania decided to wear in her official White House portrait. That 10th-anniversary ring would today retail for $3.5 million or £2.7 million - it is significantly larger than Melania's original engagement ring but it is not D Flawless, which is the top and most coveted diamond quality in existence,” Kormind told Express.
