The “Lion King” movie that is being adapted as a live-action film has just dropped its first trailer and the reactions from the public have been amazingly positive. Many praised how gorgeous the film looks, what with the detailed features of the animals shown. Simba (Daniel Glover) looks particularly beautiful as he is presented to the crowd of beasts on the ground. Unfortunately, this also means that Mufasa’s (James Earl Jones) death will be more realistic than ever.
Those who grew up in the early 90s will already be familiar with the story of the original “Lion King” movie. Since it doesn’t look like the filmmakers will be changing anything with regards to that story anytime soon, it’s clear that Mufasa’s fate and that of Simba will be unchanged. This means that the old king will die, paving the way for the new.
However, it will be how this particular story is presented where the differences between the two films will be obvious. The first “Lion King” movie was 2D animated, as were many of Disney’s films in those days. This remake will be live-action, in that the animals will be more realistic, minus the fact that they act and talk like real people.
As such, they will seem more like real creatures and would thus come across as easier to empathize with. Anything and everything they experience will be easier for the viewers to relate to, and this includes death. It’s an unfortunate fact that Mufasa will die in “Lion King” and his death will be the result of a betrayal.
In 2D, this event led to the crying eyes of many young viewers, and even those among the parents. When “Lion King” premieres on July 19, 2019, it’s expected that even more moviegoers will bawl their eyes out.
