Scientist.com, an online marketplace for outsourced research focused on the life science industry, has launched a blockchain-based platform to ensure integrity of data and information.
‘DataSmart’ is based on Scientist.com’s proprietary blockchain technology.
Scientist.com explained that biopharma companies need to prove to regulators that the data created during late-stage preclinical and clinical phases of drug development has not been tampered with. By providing tamper-proof distributed database, blockchain technology can help solve this problem.
“Blockchain’s ability to ensure the integrity of information is the basis of its use in cryptocurrencies. In biopharma research we need blockchain technology to verify and validate the supply chain and to ensure the integrity of research data,” stated Chris Petersen, CTO and Founder. “Our new DataSmart platform enables pharmaceutical and biotech companies to demonstrate that critical supplier information and important research data has not been tampered with and remains unaltered.”
Kevin Lustig, CEO and Founder at Scientist.com, said that the DataSmart platform allows extending data integrity protections throughout the entire drug research process, from concept to clinic and beyond.
Founded in 2007, Scientist.com has raised more than $33 million from Leerink Transformation Partners, 5AM Ventures, Heritage Provider Network, Bootstrap Ventures and Hollywood producer Jack Giarraputo among others.
