The LG V40 ThinQ has finally been unveiled in Seoul on Thursday, and its impressive five-camera set-up – three on the rear and two on the front – is already generating a lot of buzz on the internet.
As predicted, the LG V40 ThinQ has an 8MP camera in front for standard selfies along with a 5MP camera for wide-angle images. According to LG, the two cameras can work together to create the perfect bokeh effect, and an on-screen slider can be used to adjust the amount of background blur.
The LG V40 ThinQ’s three rear snappers are undoubtedly the most interesting feature of the new smartphone and each camera is fitted with different lenses – a 16MP super wide-angle, a 12MP standard angle, and a 12MP telephoto.
“The three lenses allow for shutterbugs to frame different shots without changing position relative to the subject. The 107-degree super wide-angle lens captures subjects with more of the background with ease, while the telephoto with 2x optical zoom (or 3.2x the zoom of the wide-angle lens) takes clear shots from distance without a loss in image quality. The Triple Shot feature stitches together the images captured with each of the three lenses into a short video file for easy sharing,” LG said.
Aside from the camera setup, the LG V40 ThinQ also has a 6.4-inch FullVision OLED display that has a resolution of 3,120 x 1,440. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile processing platform, and it has 6GB of RAM, and 64GB or 128GB of storage space inside with an option to expand this up to 2TB with a microSD card. It also has a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter).
The smartphone is confirmed to run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box instead of Android 9.0 Pie, although an update is expected at some point in the future.
The LG V40 ThinQ is scheduled to launch on Oct. 18.
