Now that Lebron James has brought his talents to Los Angeles, the Cleveland Cavaliers are left with a gaping hole. And it seems that hole is about to get bigger as Kyle Korver is rumored to get traded to the Philadelphia Sixers, Bleacher Report says.
The three-point shooter is ranked sixth best scorer beyond the arc in the league, shooting 43.6 percent in a 21.6-minute play time. Kyle Korver’s replacement is supposedly Jerryd Bayless, a combo guard who is expected to not get a lot – or any – minutes should he stay with the Sixers.
So Bayless parting ways with the Sixers makes sense for both parties. And the Sixers acquiring Kyle Korver will bring back a fan-favorite of the team.
The 37-year-old veteran has played for the Sixers in the past and quickly gained a lot of fans in Philadelphia as he lit the scoreboard up from a distance with his accuracy. The last time Kyle Korver played for Philly was a decade ago, and while it may have been a long time, old-school fans will surely be delighted with his return.
Last season, Kyle Korver had a stat line of 9.2 points per game with 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists. The shooting guard has also shown he can be a decent defender, but his age is taking a toll on him.
One of the criticisms that Kyle Korver got from analysts is that he seems to disappear when they’re playing on the big stage. However, the Golden State Warriors recognize the threat that Korver presents and how the guy can get it going once he drains a few shots in.
Naturally, defenders of the Warriors made sure Kyle Korver didn’t get any momentum going and shut him down effectively. Still, even with his age, he’s a great addition to the Sixers roster. And with Marco Belinelli now playing for the Spurs, Korver can potentially take his spot and be the outside threat that would spread the floor for his teammates.
