“Jane the Virgin” Season 5 has been announced as the final installment for the satire/romantic comedy and fans are begging CW to extend the series. However, executive producer Brad Silberling said that their decision will not change and that fans will understand once they watch the entirety of the fifth season.

“Jane the Virgin” Season 5 will be picking up from where it left off and will not have a time-jump given how the previous installment ended. Fans who have been following the series know that Michael (Brett Dier) is actually alive and has returned to the life of Jane (Gina Rodriguez). It would be interesting to see how the show will handle this plot twist and explain how exactly did Michael survive his gunshot wounds.

What’s more, there’s also the fact that he didn’t immediately return to Jane after his disappearance, leading fans to speculate what caused the decision to remain hidden. While CW is keeping everything under wraps, fans are assuming that he may have suffered an amnesia after the incident. The show has been known to use telenovela tropes in its storyline and the amnesia twist would be an interesting avenue to explore in “Jane the Virgin” Season 5.

Another theory that some fans have put forward is the possibility of a secret twin. However, show creator Jennie Snyder Urman already shut down this assumption and said there’s definitely no twin involved in “Jane the Virgin” Season 5, Deadline reported.

Although other fans have rejoiced that Michael managed to survived his ordeal, others have voiced their disagreement since they’ve already started rooting for Rafael (Justin Baldoni). Of course, Michael could very well have returned to provide some closure for Jane and himself before leaving for good. But that’s another speculation in and of itself and fans will have to wait for “Jane the Virgin” Season 5 to know exactly how this development will unfold.

Although CW hasn’t provided an exact date when the series will return, the network said that it will drop sometime around the spring of 2019. What’s more, “Jane the Virgin” Season 5 will not be airing on its Friday timeslot but has been moved to Wednesday. Hopefully, the production for the upcoming installment goes swimmingly and no unforeseen setbacks will delay the release.
