“Jane the Virgin” season 5 is the series’ final installment, but it would not stop the production from including new roles for guest actors that may or may not be key to wrapping up the telenovela tale. One of the confirmed guest appearances, thanks to a behind-the-scenes photo from Justin Baldoni, is coming from “One Tree Hill” alum Sophia Bush.
Bush shared the same image that Baldoni posted on Instagram and revealed how she got into the “Jane the Virgin” season 5 set. The actress said one of her “favorite ladies” — presumably Gina Rodriguez, who is also in the photo — personally called her and asked, “Will you come play in an episode for my last season?”
The actress, who is also known as Erin Lindsay from NBC’s “Chicago PD,” is expected to have a one-time appearance happening on “Jane the Virgin” season 5 episode 12 as someone named Julie. Bush described the experience as a “dream come true” and that she was “beyond thrilled” to share the screen with Rodriguez and Baldoni.
Julie’s background and character description are under wraps. Baldoni’s Instagram post included hashtags that say “can’t tell you” and “sorry not sorry” hinting that Bush’s role will remain a secret until the “Jane the Virgin” season 5 episode 12 airs.
The only details confirmed at the moment is that Bush’s scene with Rodriguez and Baldoni will likely be filled with comedic scenes. However, Baldoni also warned that some fans “may not be happy about” Bush’s role in “Jane the Virgin” season 5.
Aside from Bush’s top-secret guest role, viewers have many other secrets to uncover in “Jane the Virgin” season 5, especially those that are related to Michael’s (Brett Dier) fake death and sudden return. This major plot twist will certainly rock the worlds of Jane (Rodriguez) and Rafael (Baldoni) who have once again gotten romantically close after moving on from Michael’s supposed death. “Jane the Virgin” season 5 will premiere on Wednesday, March 27, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
