‘Jane the Virgin’ season 4 may see the possibility of Jane and her first boyfriend Adam getting back together after meeting again. Executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman revealed that the upcoming season will explore Adam’s backstory as well as his past relationship with Jane.
The season 3 finale of The CW’s satirical comedy-drama television series featured the big wedding between Jane’s (Gina Rodriguez) biological parents Xo (Andrea Navejo) and Rogelio (Jaime Camil). Despite being one of the family’s most celebrated moments, it was not without its own set of last-minute drama and challenges.
Jane was forced to take a bus to get to the ceremony after her ride broke down and was also forced to face her feelings for her child’s biological father, Rafael (Justin Baldoni). She also learned that her late husband Michael wrote her a letter before their wedding. Although she failed to find it, it was eventually delivered to the Marbella by none other than Jane’s first boyfriend Adam (Tyler Posey), who moved into Jane and Michael’s apartment following Michael’s death.
Although Xo and Rogelio eventually wed, Darci (Justina Machado) revealed that she was pregnant with Rogelio’s child to make matters more complicated. According to Deadline, the finale ended with a cliffhanger that showed Anezka (Yael Grobglas) threatening to shoot her twin sister Petra after finding out that the latter impersonated her to break up with Scott. It is unclear whether Anezka will succeed in her plan to get rid of her sister once and for all.
According to ET, creator and executive producer Jennie Snyder Urman revealed that Posey’s Adam will be returning for the fourth season of ‘Jane the Virgin.’ The series is set to pick up immediately after the events of season 3’s finale episode as Urman confirmed that no time jump will happen between the two seasons.
Urman teased, “You’re going to need to know what his backstory is, why she never thought she’d see him again [and] why he was her first love. That’s going to take her on a real journey and obviously, there’s big history there.”
She continued, “He’s an illustrator of graphic novels, so he can illustrate and she can write -- they’ll have a collaboration at some point… He’s a little bit more of a youthful energy. Jane has had a lot of weight on her shoulders and this is somebody who’s going to be reminding her a bit that she’s 27 years old. He’s a little bit more adventurous than Jane is right now.”
Urman added that Adam will push Jane to do things out of her comfort zone, with their backstory as a past couple explained. She described Adam as a single guy with no children. It would be interesting to see the dynamic between Adam and Jane as they try to make sense about their chance meeting and circumstances.
‘Jane the Virgin’ season 4 was renewed on The CW last January 2017.
