'Jane the Virgin' Season 2 Episode 14 Recap: Torn between two lovers

You might think that our favourite virgin is enjoying the attention she is receiving right now from two men vying for her but it clearly is the opposite. The recent episode of the hit TV series ‘Jane the Virgin’ circled around Jane and her rekindled love with Michael. Lurking in this article are spoilers about the episode so beware.

Episode 14 titled “Chapter 36” was an episode that’s all about teasing and cliff hangers. We all thought that now that Jane and Michael are back, they would finally consummate their love. But Michael stopped it before things could go further.  It turns out that Jane did actually want to have sex with Michael but he reminded her that they’re still getting married eventually so why not wait until then?

It’s a testament to the show’s writing that every time Jane changes her mind — whether she thinks she wants to lose her virginity to Jonathan in a casual fling or if she’s realizing that she should continue waiting for Michael — her decisions still feel natural and never like a cheap choice designed to fit the current story arc.

As for the other man in the picture, there is still awkwardness lingering between the three knowing that Rafael would still be involved in their lives since he is the father of Mateo. Rafael and Michael are still on shaky terms, especially after Jane made it explicit that she was with Michael now. Jane’s having a hard time keeping Rafael out of her and Michael’s new life together.

Rafael, on the other hand, is back on his old ways. All the speculations were right and he has regressed back to his playboy ways, drinking too much, having sex with many women, and arriving late for his appointments with Petra.

Speaking of Petra, she has finally given birth to the twins whom she named after the ‘Frozen’ characters Elsa and Anna. She was actually with her frenemy Jane at a bookstore where Jane would have confronted her favourite author about copying her idea. This disabled Jane to do what she planned to since she has to accompany Petra to the delivery room.
