“House of Cards” season 6 is finally coming after nearly a year and a half absence from TV. The fifth season was released in May last year, and with the long break, fans initially thought that the show was canceled. However, Netflix confirmed that the political drama was pushing through despite the controversies involving its lead star, Kevin Spacey.
Last year, the #MeToo movement was launched after many actors came out and opened up about the horrendous sexual harassment culture in Hollywood and in their workplaces. In the heat of the controversial claims, more and more victims admitted that they were abused as well. Many veteran and high-profile actors and people with high management positions were accused and one of them was Kevin Spacey.
The accusations led to his dismissal from the “House of Cards” and filming for its sixth season was put on hold. Still, many fans asked if there was a chance that they would still see Kevin Spacey (Frank Underwood) in “House of Cards” season 6 since filming had already started when the sexual harassment news was released.
The answer is clearly no even if he already shot some scenes. Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) will take over his leading role as the President of the United States in “House of Cards” season 6. The show’s producers promoted Wright and they think that is the best way to continue the story.
The Daily Express reported that although Kevin Spacey is out of the picture as Frank Underwood, he will still be mentioned a few times in “House of Cards” season 6. His character was killed off and his wife Claire is shown standing by his grave in season 6’s trailer.
As said before, “House of Cards” season 6 will continue Claire Underwood being brought into power after becoming America’s new president. This will be the show’s final run and will only have six episodes in all.
“House of Cards” season 6 is set to be released on Nov. 2 on Netflix.
