Remember the big, wacky mama-of-four who managed an equally wacky family in “Toddlers and Tiaras” and “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”? You might not recognize her if you’ve seen her now.
June “Mama June” Shannon surprised reality TV fans when she debuted with a more svelte figure. Christian Post said the reality star, who previously weighed 460 pounds and a size 24, dramatically lost a whopping 300 pounds and is now a size 4. In her new show "Mama June: From Not to Hot," her incredible weight-loss journey was featured, including surgery to remove excess skin on her neck, getting a gastric band to reduce her food intake, and working out with a personal trainer to aid in her weight loss.
On the show, she said, "Just 11 months ago, I weighed 352 pounds and I never thought this weight loss would be possible. It's been a long road through all these three surgeries, struggling with my emotional eating, these intense workouts, a dress I thought I would never be able to fit into, dealing with my ex's fiancée/soon-to-be Alana's stepmom, and all the while I'm trying to stay healthy and good for my kids.”
Alana is the adorable tyke who competed in the toddler pageant circuit, and who was first introduced in “Toddlers and Tiaras.”
With her transformation, Mama June is reportedly thinking of getting her daughters on a diet as well. It could be recalled that before her transformation journey, people have been calling her out on the questionable food and drinks she serve to her family, including the “go-go” juice, which is a mix of Red Bull and Mountain Dew she gave Alana to get her energy up for pageants. One insider, however, thinks there’s more to putting her kids on a diet.
“Mama June thinks that doing a show about getting her daughters in shape would be a big hit [on reality TV],” the insider said, implying that the move will allow her to remain relevant.
