The filming of “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 is now in full swing. And some of the eyed storylines continuing in the next installment are events from the past of Captain Lou Grover (Chi McBride) and other characters’ concern over Steve McGarrett's health (Alex O’Loughlin).
For the past several seasons, some of the major plots had something to do with Grover’s past. So there are some speculations that “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 is likely to draw some key events from Grover’s previous struggles to be tied with the Captain’s present issues.
Star Advertiser recalls that an open case from Grover’s career as a Chicago police officer was one of the notable events in season 8. In episode 5, fans saw Grover leave Hawaii to meet an inmate facing death penalty that eventually helped him acquire damning pieces of evidence against his former cop partner and best friend Clay Maxwell (Mykelti Williamson).
Since Grover entered the show, he has always been portrayed as a leader and veteran law enforcement officer with so much to teach her younger colleagues. At the same time, fans also saw Grover’s character develop by going back to some ugly parts of his past and it works every season. So it is not shocking to find fans interested to learn more about Grover’s past and how it will play into his present life, in this case, in “Hawaii Five-0” season 9.
Another continuing story for the series is the one concerning the several blows to McGarrett’s health. The pioneering character has been through a lot of challenging missions, compromising the state of his physical body. Now, some fans might be asking if it would take a toll on him in “Hawaii Five-0” season 9.
McGarrett’s health is such a major cause of concern that her co-workers needed to sit him down and encourage him to be more cautious. In the past season, McGarrett went through a liver transplant and suffered radiation damage from diffusing a bomb. But since this part of the story is not fully resolved yet, fans are likely to watch some of its effects on McGarrett’s responses to upcoming missions in “Hawaii Five-0” season 9.
Meanwhile, another interesting plot in the upcoming season has something to do with the opening of McGarrett and Danno’s (Scott Caan) restaurant. Showrunner Peter M. Lenkov told TV Line that it is going to be “a big turning point with regards to their future” in “Hawaii Five-0” season 9, which is going to premiere on Friday, Sept. 28, at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
